Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine

Nancy H. Bechtle, Chairperson of the Johns Hopkins Scleroderma Center Advisory Board, was honored by the Scleroderma Research Foundation during their Cool Comedy – Hot Cuisine event in San Francisco, California. Luke Evnin, Ph.D. and Deann Wright, Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of the Scleroderma Research Foundation respectively, organize this fund raising event each year to support state-of-the-art and interactive research into the causes and treatment of scleroderma.

Nancy has decided to retire from the Scleroderma Research Foundation Board after spending dedicated time and effort helping the organization in this fight against the disease. The Cool Comedy was hosted by actor/comedian Bob Saget, an SRF Board Member, who ran a live auction with fellow comedian Bill Bellamy – raising funds to support scleroderma research. Dr. Fredrick Wigley spoke about our mission and thanked Nancy for all her work both for the Scleroderma Research Foundation and our Center here at Hopkins. Nancy’s brother, Warren Hellman, honored his sister with a lively review.

Comedian Dana Carvey and saxophonist Dave Koz entertained the attendees while they enjoyed a wonderful dinner prepared by celebrity chef and SRF Board Member Susan Feniger, among others. Proceeds from the event benefited the Johns Hopkins Scleroderma Center and we thank Nancy, her husband Joachim, the SRF and all others involved.
